Hunger Free New Jersey was honored to join the NJ School Nutrition Association and the NJ Association of School Business Officials on Thursday to accept a Ceremonial Resolution presented by Speaker Craig Coughlin in the General Assembly.
As one of the 37 states participating in the new, permanent, nationwide Summer EBT program, New Jersey has led the way, issuing over 585,875 cards to eligible students across 722 participating school food authorities, having a positive impact in the lives of so many NJ families and bringing over $70 million in federal funds into our state!
Thank you to Mark Dinglasaan and his team at the Office of the Food Security Advocate for bringing the key stakeholders together and for their leadership on this project. Thank you to New Jersey Department of Agriculture/Division of Food and Nutrition, the Department of Human Services/Division of Family Development and the New Jersey Department of Education who worked together to build this program. Thank you to our community-based partners throughout the state who helped spread the word about Summer EBT.
We look forward to continued collaboration with members of the legislature, OFSA, NJSNA, NJASBO, and our partners throughout the state to ensure that all children have the healthy food they need to learn and thrive!
